So… what does “Oscillating” even mean?! 

Don't worry, we asked too. An oscillating toothbrush, like quip 360, has a round brush head and bristles that rotate about 45° back-and-forth to help remove plaque and leftover food bits from teeth and gums, making your daily clean even more efficient.

When we set out to design the brush that would become 360, developing the best oscillating electric toothbrush heads was our first goal. We wanted to help our quipsters perfect their daily clean with a toothbrush that (literally) revolved around them and their specific oral care needs. 

 The name quip “360” may bring to mind images of a spinning electric toothbrush, but the truth is that oscillating brushes don’t actually spin 360° — that continuous motion in one direction would dull their bristles and render them less effective. That’s why a combination of back-and-forth rotations, pulsations, and oscillations is the most efficient cleaning action for an oscillating electric toothbrush head. 

We kept the round brush head small enough to clean each individual tooth and get hard-to-reach spots (even if you have braces!), like third molars — the largest and strongest teeth in the mouth, located at the very end of the tooth row. If you take a close look at quip 360’s brush head, you’ll see bristles in three different colors and two lengths. These are called dual-length bristles — the longer outer bristles help clean along the gumline and between teeth, while the shorter inner bristles help polish and whiten surfaces.
